Rajiv, from Johannesburg (South Africa), has a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Actuarial Science from University of the Witwatersrand, with over 9 years of Credit Risk experience within the Financial Services industry. He has worked at 3 of the Big 4 Banks in SA; First National Bank, Standard Bank and currently at Barclay Africa’s ABSA Capital division. Over the last 3.5 years Rajiv has implemented strategic and tactical credit risk solutions and worked on multi-million Rand projects across Barclays Africa’s operations in the region, also with extensive travel to all of those countries.
He also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Actuarial Techniques from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in the United Kingdom and has completed his Registered Persons Examinations from the South African Institute of Financial Markets. He is currently studying toward his Actuarial Fellowship examinations.
Outside of work Rajiv is passionate about education and in developing young future leaders through making a positive sustainable change to society. He has been involved in the BizSchool programmes, being a mentor for a university students and employees within ABSA and also involved in Actuaries Without Frontiers (a sub-committee of the Actuarial Society of South Africa) in developing a financial literacy game to teach students the impact of financial decisions.
Being elected to the BYM Board in 2016, it is a definitely place where Rajiv can influence and shape the future with some of the brightest young minds of the African continent.
